Eurospan’s Medical marketing division comprises around 20 prestigious medical societies, associations and academies publishing in areas such as paediatrics, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, nursing and occupational therapy and addictions, as well as general and alternative medicine. Collectively, around 500 new titles are published each year, many of which are revised editions of "must-have" professional references such as the RED Book, the Basic and Clinical Science Course (BCSC) and the Orthopaedic Knowledge Update.

By association with Eurospan, publishers are able to transfer the following costs:

MARKETING

  • Costs associated with developing an annual marketing strategy
  • New Title Announcements (NTA’s) on all key titles
  • Production of publisher-branded leaflets & catalogues
  • All mail costs (postage/envelopes/enclosing)
  • Monthly e-alerts by subject and by title
  • Branded advertising as appropriate
  • Review copy dispatches, e.g. to The Lancet
  • Extensive medical conference programme
  • The cost of inclusion of relevant titles in Eurospan's seasonal Clinical Medicine and Health Professions catalogues

SALES

  • Key account management (wholesalers, library suppliers and bookstores)
  • Bookstore representation
  • All commission / fees
  • Presentation of new titles at seasonal sales conferences
  • Participation in the Amazon Advantage programme (amazon.co.uk)
  • Telemarketing
  • Inspection copy programme for titles with text potential
  • UK “Academic Hotline”
  • Participation at key Book Fairs (e.g. Tehran Book Fair)
  • Registration of all titles within the Nielson Bookdata and PubEasy bibliographic systems
  • Inclusion of all active medicine titles in Eurospan’s online bookstore eurospanbookstore.com

DISTRIBUTION

  • Sea and air freight into the UK
  • Stock insurance and all disbursements
  • Warehousing, inventory control & maintenance
  • Costs associated with the establishment of local pricing, bookseller account set up (discounts, credit period, etc)
  • Order processing and customer services
  • Postage and packing on customer orders
  • Cost of bookseller/wholesaler discount
  • Sales reporting by title and, if required, by region/customer
  • Credit management and control / cash collection
  • Bad debts

In addition, publishers are assigned to a dedicated Marketing Manager with whom regular contact and dialogue is encouraged and regular feedback on activities.

All of the above functions, to include many more of lesser significance that are not mentioned here, are paid for by Eurospan, not the publisher client. There are no additional fees and no hidden charges.
